Our mission is to:

1. Advance the understanding of how adults learn and remember music instruction. By utilizing the diversity of several key disciplines and the  integration of research from these disciplines, PFA translates research and new scientific knowledge into improved instructional methods.

2. Provide activities, information, and educational resources for adult piano students at all stages of their music study, which includes culturally and ethnic information when relevant.

3. Dissemenate information and general education to the public at large about the nature of scientific discovery and how it comes to bear on music education.

4. Publish scientific findings, when relevant, in scientific journals, so as to contribute to the scientific literature at large as well as possible implications for public policy, societal benefit, and continued scientific progress.
